Yunus Musah: "I'm so happy about my debut, it's my dream, something I wanted to do since I was a kid"
The young 17 year-old footballer enjoyed his first minutes playing with Valencia CF ‘s first team. Even though it was a friendly match, it’s still a step forward as he admitted to VCF MEDIA: “the club wants Academy players in the first team”
Yunus Musah's unofficial debut for the first team arrived this past Saturday in the friendly against CD Castellón. The 17-year old played the full 90 minutes of the game, and is happy to have received the opportunity to show what he can do this summer.
"It's a dream come true. I think that it was a good debut from me, and I want to continue like this," said the teenager after the game.
"I'm enjoying myself, because this is something that I have wanted to do since I was little. I work hard and enjoy myself every day. I want to keep this up in the minutes I have on the pitch."
"The coach told us to play like we train, and to have fun. It had been a while since we last played a game, and it was important -because football is about enjoyment."
Musah operated on both sides of the midfield during the game, and he says that "It doesn't matter where I am on the pitch. I just want to play -even if it means me going in goal!"
His inclusion is the latest example of a commitment to youth at the club. It is an aspect that the VCF Academy player sees as positive.
"We saw a lot of young players on the pitch. That's an example of the club wanting academy players in the first team, so we hope that during the season we are going to play as well. I wanted to come to a club where they like young players and play good football. Last season I had a good experience in Segunda B, which is very physical and has older, more experienced players. Now I have to keep going."
